  Materials and Waste Management

The proper management of wastes, chemicals and other materials is critical to the protection of the environment, public health and safety. The DEP has several programs that are dedicated to assuring proper management and control of materials including petroleum products, industrial chemicals, radioactive materials, pesticides, PCBs, and solid and hazardous wastes. Collectively, these programs protect environmental quality and public healthy by promoting waste minimization, recycling, beneficial use of solid wastes, and spill prevention and control methods.
